Abstract
Single crystalline diamond particles were grown on the ends of sharp silicon tips. Typical form of the particles was cubooctahedron with (111) plane on the top. Cold emission characteristics of the diamond coated tips demonstrated not Fowler-Nordheim behavior: I-V plots have saturation region and district hysteresis, and the F-N plots below the saturation limit are non-linear. Several models of emission are considered: room temperature thermionic and thermal field emissions as well as hot electron emission.
