Abstract :
Highly birefringent elliptical hollow core optical fiber under hydrostatic pressure is analyzed in this work using finite element method. The combined effects of thermal stress generated during fabrication and external applied stress have been considered. Birefringence increases while group velocity dispersion decreases when the fiber is under hydrostatic pressure. Higher birefringence, lower material dispersion and moderate effective area can make this fiber attractive for under water communication system.
