Abstract :
As cable-stayed bridge span increases, the effect of the geometrical nonlinearity becomes even more significant. Based on linearity, deflection and nonlinearity theory, live load response is analyzed for Sutong Bridge whose main span reaches 1 088 m. It is concluded that deflection theory(i.e. equivalent modulus of elasticity of cable stays and geometrical matrix of dead load state are taken into account) can satisfied the demand of engineering even for the highway bridges whose main span exceed 1000 m.
