Abstract :
Matric suction has vital influences on the stability of landslide. According to the existed researches, some issues have been researched, such as the measurements and control technique for matric suction of unsaturated soils, the suction influences on strength of unsaturated soils, and the suction mechanism on unsaturated soil of landslide. Combined with the compression deformation of Oplinus clay, an application the suction control technique used in the field of unsaturated soils is studied. The unsaturated triaxial tests showed that the triaxial compression strength of unsaturated soils located in landslide zone is increasing with the increase of suction, and it is considered that matric suction has significant impacts on the rainfall-induced landslide, which means the stability coefficient of landslide decreasing with the reduction of the suction. However, the specific relationship between the changes needs further study. This paper is intent to provide a theoretical reference on how suction affects the stability of landslide.
