  • Abstract
    Based on Therzaghi´s one dimensional consolidation theory, a new method for evaluating coefficient of consolidation is proposed in this paper, which is more convenient than Casagrande´s log t method and Taylor´s √t method. Consolidation and permeability combined tests by GDS advanced consolidation testing system show that the coefficient of consolidation derived by the new method is very close to that by Taylor´s √t method , greater than that by Casagrande´s log t method and generally equal to the measured results; The tests also show that the primary consolidation settlement obtained by the new method is very close to that by Taylor´s √t method and less than that by Casagrande´s log t method .
