Abstract :
Energy efficiency retrofit for existing residential buildings is facing a fast development in China. As the first set demonstrative buildings of the Sino-German “Chinese existing Building Energy Efficiency Improvement” project, economic efficiency analysis has been made in this paper. The scheme and cost of Hebei No.1 Residential Quarter are summarized in this paper. Heating energy consumption of demonstrative buildings has been calculated. The results show that the payback period of this retrofit project of demonstrative buildings is more than the building life, and its cost is higher than the average cost of investment for energy efficiency retrofit for existing residential buildings. Therefore, the reasons for high cost of the demonstrative buildings are discussed. The conclusions may be meaningful for energy efficiency retrofit project in China.
