Abstract :
The supermodes in microstructure optical fibers with linearly distributed multicore are investigated by using coupled- mode theory. The coupling coefficients between two adjacent cores are estimated based on the weak guidance approximation. The near and far field distributions of supermodes supported by the multicore fiber are presented. The calculated results show that the in-phase supermode can dominate the output. The coupling field propagation characteristics of the optical fibers are then analyzed.
