Abstract
This paper presents the analysis of conducted electromagnetic interference (EMI) reduction on a boost converter using of progressive winding on the inductor. Two layer of inductor winding is modeled. The EMI of a boost converter can be caused by switching dv/dt rates and interacting with parasitic capacitance in the inductor. This paper focuses on the modeling and analysis on the parasitic capacitance of the progressive inductor winding. The EMI sources of the inductor normal winding are identified and measured on both of discontinuous and continuous current modes. Finally, the experimental EMI spectrum, in associated with the voltage and current waveform of MOSFET, for both of normal and progressive winding is compared and analyzed to confirm the advantage of a progressive winding technique.
