Abstract :
Space heating accounts for the greatest energy consumption in cold regions of China. Proper application of thermal insulation is one of the most effective energy conservation measures for residential buildings. Therefore, determining and selecting the optimum thickness of insulation is important not only for the environment but also for the energy costs. In this paper, a mathematical model demonstrating optimal insulation thickness for external walls is established based on Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA). This study is calculated by analyzing the implementation of optimum insulation thickness for external walls of a typical energy efficiency residential building in Tangshan, a city in cold regions of China.
