Abstract :
The IEEE 802.11e is the extension to enhance the wireless medium access control (MAC) quality of service (QoS) for applications requiring real time services. The IEEE 802.11b is also one of the extensions with the higher and multiple data transmission rates according to the channel condition. However, when the IEEE 802.11e WLANs are used with multi-rate scheme, they suffer unfairness in terms of throughput. In this paper, we propose a rate adaptive transmission opportunity (TXOP) to solve the unfairness with the performance. Our simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides better fairness.
