Abstract :
In this paper, the impact of power control error on PN acquisition performance is evaluated for a CDMA system in a fading channel. A parallel acquisition scheme is adopted since it achieves faster acquisition than serial acquisition schemes. Acquisition performance is evaluated in terms of mean acquisition time, and acquisition-based capacity is discussed. It is shown that the imperfect power control increases mean acquisition time substantially when the standard deviation of received power is above 1 dB. The results in this paper can be applied to the reverse link design of a CDMA system
