Abstract :
A new drive configuration suitable for high-power and high-performance drives is presented. Usually, in drive systems rated more than 7000 kW, two three-level inverters have been combined using inter-phase reactors. However, inter-phase reactors have problems of acoustic noise and high losses. To overcome these problems, we propose a new drive configuration using a wound-rotor induction motor and two inverters. The outputs of the two inverters are combined electro-mechanically within the induction machine. The control system, which has been implemented using a DSP (TMS320C40), as well as the novel features obtained with this new configuration are clearly explained
