Abstract
Alenia Aerospazio has developed a demonstrator finalised to SAR data analysis and automatic target detection and recognition (ATD&R). Object detection is performed using a rule-based system, all the rules are parameterised given the image resolution and the size of the special target being looking for. A complete definition of the parameters is achievable after a testing phase, that is applying the detection modules to a collection of images with different statistical properties and resolution. The authors present and discuss the results of the testing phase given some hypothesis on the targets characteristics. A comparison of the achieved probabilities of detection will be considered to have a quantitative measure of the system performances given different initial conditions
