Abstract :
Harbor Containers often fall and get damaged under the strong wind. However, the study of wind-resistant for the bulk accumulation structures like harbor containers has not reported in the literature yet. Based on wind tunnel tests of rigid model, through the simple principle of moment balance and force balance, the calculation formula of container´s stability under strong typhoon were obtained, and the rule that critical failure wind speed of piles of containers which are placed in different rows and different tiers changes according to wind directions also were obtained. The table of critical failure wind speed of containers from wind tunnel test can be used as reference for wind resistance and disaster reduction. Meanwhile, it can also be helpful in researching and designing of these bulk accumulation structures.
