Abstract :
A new approach for the implementation of VHF biquadratic continuous time current mode filters with continuously programmable characteristics is introduced. It is based on unity gain first order low-pass building blocks replacing integrators used in conventional state variable filter structures. The implementation is based exclusively on utilization of simple current mirrors. This approach allows implementation of filters with very high f0Q products close to technology limits. Novel gain programmable current mirrors are used in order to provide programmability to the filters characteristics. Simulations in 0.5 mum CMOS technology show feasibility to operate at frequencies over 30 MHz with Q and f0 adjustable values
