  • Abstract
By adopting the method of the gas chromatography-electron capture detector (GC-ECD), 12 kinds of homologues of PCBS in the surface sediments of the Grand Canal (XuZhou Section) have been calculated by quantitative analysis. The research indicates that the concentrations of PCBs in the surface sediments range from 16.55ng/g(dry weight) to 114.31ng/g(dry weight), and the average value is 47.44ng/g(dry weight). The highest value is found out to occur in the three cross-sections of the PiZhou Section of the Grand Canal (XuZhou Section). The SQG evaluation method revised by Canadian Environment Committee and the ecological hazard index method have been adopted to evaluate the risks with the results that the PCBS in the surface sediments of the Grand Canal (XuZhou Section) has a tendency of an obvious ecological risk.
