Abstract :
Wavelet transform is widely used in data compression. It is a useful method that constructs matched wavelets according to the features of signal for improving the compression ratio. A waveform matching criterion for constructing matched wavelets used for compressing one-dimensional signals is given. Based on the criteria, an optimal matched wavelet filter is constructed and an example of one-dimension signal compression is given. Compared with other wavelet filters, the matched wavelet is able to improve compression performance for a given signal.
