Abstract
The ISDN (integrated services digital network) is a rapidly evolving public digital communication system which provides traditional telephony services together with digital data-communication ability integrated in a single digital subscriber connection. VLSI components and software for basic-rate ISDN subscriber interface terminal equipment, such as ISDN telephones and terminal adapters, are available. The author describes a 16-b CMOS microcontroller, the HPC 16400, which is the latest addition to the HPC (high-performance controller) family of microcontrollers. Together with other ISDN components and ISDN software package, a complete systems solution is offered for the development of ISDN basic-rate applications
