  • Abstract
The red-siltstone is one of the representative red rocks widely distributed in southern and central areas of China. In order to research on the feasibility and effect of plant protection in red-siltstone slope, the paper, based on the application of plant slope protection of thick-layer backing in red siltstone slope of Jingyi highway in Hubei province in China, presents the construction program of thick-layer materials in the slope, analyzes mechanical mechanism of plant protection with mechanical model and hydrological system with physical theory, and summarizes the three stages of dynamic effect of slope protection by experimental observations. The results shows that slope can be reinforced by shallow roots and anchored by deep roots of plant, and its surface has the resistance to erosion by stems, leaves and roots. Plant protection in red-siltstone slope can reach the effects of unifying function, environment and sight.
