Abstract :
The work reported shows that the electrode material will affect the chemistry of the discharge atmosphere. It is demonstrated that the complex chemical reactions occurring at the surface of metallic electrodes is material dependent. This variation in the gaseous reactions with electrode material adds to the difficulty of identifying the degradation reactions and the development of a generic reaction scheme for degradation processes under partial discharge stressing
