Abstract :
By introducing variation factor n0, upper-bound limit analysis of inhomogeneous slope was proposed while cohesion changes linearly as depth increases. Research shows that internal dissipation rate in deformation area caused by linearly variation of cohesion is half of which occurs on the logarithm spiral. Limit bearing capacity increases as n0 increases if cohesion of slope toe remains constant. The bearing capacity and safety factor are larger when cohesion of slope toe is greater than cohesion of shoulder.
