Abstract :
The authors present the current state of art of logic synthesis within IBM and some aspects developed at IBM Essonnes Component Development Laboratory. The application domain of logic synthesis is defined. Some high-level design languages are presented, since their practical features are essential in this process. The current synthesis approaches are detailed, with an emphasis on algebraic techniques. Examples are given of IBM machines designed with logic synthesis, and of an application to the optimization of an ASIC library
