Abstract :
The problem of electromagnetic pulse diffraction has doubtless theoretical interest, since in the overwhelming majority of cases the boundary value problems of electromagnetic waves diffraction are considered in the spectral domain. Generally for the exterior domain they use numerical algorithms, for example, FETD. In this paper an alternative semianalytical method is developed. From the point of view of further practical applications this study is interesting as a base for investigating the influence of an external electromagnetic pulse on a fiber cable. The solution of the integral equation (IE) is carried out in the time domain. The method allows one to reduce the problem to solving the appropriate set of algebraic equations (SAE). We extract the singular part of the kernel in the integral equation and transform it in a way similar to that proposed in Lerer and Kalinchenko (2000) for the investigation of monochromatic wave diffraction. To solve the IE with a smooth kernel collocation has been applied
