  • Abstract
    Wave atoms have some good properties, such as the uniformly bounded location in both time and frequency, parabolic scaling relationship, namely wavelength ≈(diameter)2, and most important, a significantly sparser representation of the oriented textures than other fixed standard representations like wavelets, Gabor atoms, or curvelets. Focusing on Perona-Malik (PM) model, we develop a novel nonlinear anisotropic diffusion model by replacing Gaussian regularization with wave atoms shrinkage, in order to well improve the interesting features. Numerical experiments illustrate the good performance in comparison to the simple shrinkage method and classical PM model.
