  • Abstract
    More and more distributed temperature systems were applied in high voltage cable insulation online monitoring, which make it possible to calculate the conductor temperature accurately and estimate the true carrying capacity of power cable. Applying the mathematics model of heat network, this paper propose a method to calculate conductor temperature from temperature of cable outer sheath, the structure and laying conditions of power cable should be given certainly. Factors that may have effect on the result calculated were also discussed. The test carried out at Cable Research Institute prove that temperature difference of cable conductor between measured on field and calculated by this method can be controlled in 3 K.
