Electronic government (E-government) has become government important tools of innovative management and improving efficiency. E-government involves using information technology, and especially the internet, to improve the delivery of government services to citizens, businesses, and other government agencies. By 2010, China has become the world´s second largest economy, but Chinese e-government progress is far from mature. This paper firstly discusses the e-government concept and stage and then, analyzes the Chinese e-government development situation since the 1990s. This paper therefore studies Chinese e-government facing challenges and opportunities. Finally, this study proposes the Chinese e-government future direction and strategy after the foregoing discussion.
