Abstract
Knowledge acquisition is known to be a critical bottleneck in building expert systems. Many researchers of this field have focused on the approach of developing methodologies or systems to automate the knowledge acquisition process and have achieved good results. Some reports show that missing implicit knowledge has significant affects on the performance of expert systems. The author resolves the consistency problem in the process of knowledge elicitation. The author analyzes each possible inconsistent condition that may arise in eliciting implicit expertise, and then proposes a consistency test to help the experts to cope with the problem
