Abstract
The paper mainly analysis the process of stress transmission and change on anchors in clay with water permeation through an indoor model test. The paper summarizes three possible failure modes and causes on anchors in clay with water: destruction in the interface for grouting and soil mass, destruction of soil mass, cone bonded compound damage. On the basis of analysis the paper puts forward the failure mechanism on anchors in clay: "destruction from breakthrough point, domination by composite of soil and anchor." Under normal conditions, it is a breakthrough point that composite of soil and anchor always begin to destroy from one or several, the breakthrough point makes the next part produce the new damage and breakthrough, before the overall destabilization. All this may result in failure of some other parts, and lead to overall instability to a certain extent. During the process, the composite of soil and anchor can take full advantage of its own merits to eliminate the breakthrough points, control in time destructive process, make its conversion to the steady state fast. A reference principle for design of anchor is provided for projects.
