Abstract :
Procedures and rules alone do not provide electrical safety. Personnel who are exposed to electrical hazards must understand the basics and outcomes of electrical hazards and practice safe work practices in order to implement the procedures. Training and qualifying employees on these issues can be difficult and confusing. This paper will outline a process for training employees on electrical safety issues. The paper will define the training process in terms that will satisfy the requirements of AS/NZS standards on electrical safety and OSHA and NFPA standards. The safety and training issues are discussed and a possible framework for successful training is specified.
