Abstract :
This paper presents a design procedure of a programmable electrical load that can be utilized in various laboratory applications. Such electrical load provides the possibility to adjust the electrical load to a desired value of active and reactive power. The paper includes theoretical derivation of the system model, simulation and experimental results. The control algorithm is developed and implemented in a Texas Instrument TMS320F28335 DSP. The programmable load is designed to provide maximum power of 1.6 kVA, with the possibility to adjust the power factor in full operating range.
