Abstract
This paper revisits the significance of AI, fuzzy, and neural controls in Japanese industrial applications from the view point of the progress in electronics, especially computer electronics for control applications. As a result, AI techniques are related to the table lookup, the fuzzy approach is redefined as an interpolation, and the neural technique is a mere off-line function estimation. Furthermore, the future technologies are considered based on the development
