Abstract :
A wideband circular patch antenna with a conical radiation pattern for wireless communications is proposed. With the combination of a circular patch and four feeding open loops, the antenna provides a wide bandwidth due to dual resonances. The operation principle of the antenna has been presented, and a prototype has been fabricated using printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication. Measured results show that the proposed antenna yields an impedance bandwidth of 65.3% for voltage standing-wave ratio (VSWR) from 1.32 to 2.6 GHz and a maximum gain of 7.7 dBi with an air substrate thickness of about 0.13 λ0 at the center frequency .
