Abstract :
An analytical method has been proposed to predict the ultimate uplift capacity of shallow foundation embedded in sand considering rotation of principal stress. The coefficient of lateral earth pressure has been developed considering the arching effect of soil. The failure surface has been influenced by the foundation depth and angle of internal friction. The result obtained by the present method consists with the measure in the field.
