Abstract
A scheme for image segmentation is presented in order to combine spatial information, hierarchical representations and statistical methods. This approach utilizes a double criterion when a classification of the boundary is made in each level of the quadtree structure. Experimental results demonstrate the power of the authors´ method for remote sensing data such as SAR and airborne camera images
