Abstract :
The application of GA to structural damage identification is an effective method, it is easy to implement and no special requirement concerning the initial values of unknown parameters is needed. In the paper, a nondestructive global damage identification method, an improved Genetic algorithm, is proposed to identify damage location and severity of the structure, which is verified by a number of damage scenarios for simulated beams, and shown that the proposed GA yields a suitable damage location and severity identification. In the end, the influence of noise is considered by polluting analytical mode shapes with varying amounts of noise, which shows great robustness.
