Abstract :
This paper is devoted to the evaluation of the application of Macroevolutionary algorithms to the parametric optimization of industrial plants. The approach followed is based on the integration of evolutionary algorithms and discrete event simulation tools for computing the efficiency of each individual within a modular distributed design environment. The performance of Macroevolutionary algorithms is tested in the optimization of a hybrid assembly line, and the results are discussed through their comparison to those obtained using a more standard genetic algorithm in the solution search block of the environment.
