Abstract
A novel speed estimation method for an induction motor is presented. Based on the carrier frequency sinusoidal modulation PWM, an extra frequency controllable rotor current can be generated. The amplitude of this current can be controlled to be zero by controlling its frequency to be equal to the rotating frequency of an induction motor, so the rotating frequency of the induction motor can be estimated as the frequency of the extra rotor current when its amplitude is zero
