Abstract
A synthesis problem for arc arrays of radiating elements is considered, which consists in determining the array pattern that approximates a desired radiation pattern while vanishing at prescribed directions in the plane of the array. At first, the unconstrained optimal array pattern is determined minimizing the mean-square distance from the desired pattern. Subsequently, the unconstrained pattern is modified to form the nulls.
