Abstract
In order to maintain competitiveness in global markets, manufacturing organizations must reconsider current organizational designs. Team concepts, teamwork-based organization environment and enterprise cultures for concurrent engineering (CE) are studied as a solution to this need. In this paper the characteristics and definitions of the team are presented. A teamwork-based culture within a manufacturing setting is suggested. Moreover, the management and organization of multi-functional teams working under CE conditions are described for short lead-time product development cycles. The strategy for support the organization and structuring of project development teams is proposed. Finally, the teamwork system is discussed for CE supporting environment
