Abstract :
Hybrid TD/CDMA systems are being considered for third-generation wireless systems TDD components. In this paper, we examine the impact of using adaptive antennas at the base stations for both conventional single-user detection (SUD) and joint detection (JD). Simulation performance results indicate that in terms of the trade-off between performance and overall system complexity, a solution that uses a more complex JD receiver with less directive antennas might be a better option than an SUD type of receiver requiring more directive antennas
