The reasons for invalidation of connecting rod assembly was analysised, the improvement measures was proposed, the 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) model of connecting rod assembly of diesel engine was established, nonlinear analysis was made of connecting rod assembly using ANSYS, The fatigue strength of connecting rod is analyzed with the aid of Good-man method based on FEA. The result shows that, the stress concentration caused by threaded holes can effectively alleviate when the bulk-hole diameter increased, the maximum stress inside the rod hole can be reduced about 20%, the tensile stress of piston outer surface decreased slightly while increasing piston pin diameter or shortening the length of the piston pin, the safety factor of transition section can be increased from 2.36 to 12.65.
