Abstract
This paper presents a generic XML (extensible markup language) based software system that can be installed on devices in a home network. The system enables dynamic change of behavior of a device, based on the state of the other devices in the network. Unlike existing user profiling systems, the proposed technology allows “local” profiling to occur without exposing sensitive information to third parties such as content providers
