Abstract :
The quality of road traffic accidents appraisal is not only related to the analysis accident causes, the impartiality dealing with traffic accidents, but also related to some major issues such as safeguarding the authority enforcing the law, maintaining the government´s prestige, and promoting legalization of traffic management. To solve the limitation and applicability of the traditional method of road traffic accident analysis and appraisement, a computer aided analysis and reconstruction system for road traffic accidents is established after discussing requirements and technology characteristics of this system. This system consists of a supporting database system, an accident data input and accident scene drawing system, a road traffic accident computing system, and an accident process 3D simulation system. Relative error between the vehicle collision calculation model of the system and experimental data is no more than 12%. The application in some actual cases shows that this system can realize the effective transformation from theoretical achievements to practical technology, and improve the quality and the efficiency of accident analysis.
