Abstract :
This paper discusses an Air Force funded SBIR Phase-I R&D project concerned with the feasibility of implementing AI-ESTATE in a component based Automatic Test System (ATS). Component technology extends the notion of client/server interactions by building client-sides and service-sides into each component running in separate program spaces. Component connectivity and interoperations are facilitated via COM and CORBA enabling technologies. Al-ESTATE is a new set of IEEE standard services designed to support Artificially intelligent diagnostic reasoners running in an ATS environment. A component-based ATS architecture provides two distinct locations to construct Al-ESTATE services in the inter-component communications unit (layer) and as stand alone components
