Abstract
The use of mobile information and service systems can cause an added value in preparation and development of residential and business areas for the involved actors and user groups. Within a practice example (industry wasteland PHOENIX west) potentials are shown how a mobile information and service system can support the area and location development. Starting from the total life cycle of the area possible user groups were identified. For each user group within the corresponding life cycle specific functions are developed and subjected to an added value analysis. At last a calculation of profitability was carried out. Thereby costs and revenues were determined to measure the return of investment (ROI) for such a mobile information and service system.
