  • Abstract
Mobile devices can be categorized into three categories: mobile phones, PDAs (personal digital assistant) and smart phones. All of them play an important role for mobile services because they are the interface to the users. Currently there is no consistent methodology to describe mobile devices. This project shows an approach to describe mobile devices. The result is a database with contains all considerable attributes for the classification of mobile devices. The database will enable the user to classify mobile devices for special application scenarios. The methods used are data modelling, specifically data construction with the Entity-Relationship- Model (ERM) by Chen, a relational database model and a product-specific database implementation. The results are merged together to a database system with 21 tables and the corresponding field specifications.
