Abstract :
This paper deals with digital control in read-only and recordable optical disc systems such as CD audio/video, CD-ROM, CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW. Since 1993, the rapidly growing data storage device market has forced fast system upgrades and new systems for extremely low market prices. Extensive system integration by means of special purpose ICs has minimized the number of external components and eliminated expensive adjustments during manufacturing by implementing auto-calibrating techniques
