Abstract :
The authors present the design and construction of a low-cost, high-frequency, quasi-resonant buck converter whose power stage is surface mounted on an insulated metal substrate. Due to the ESR of the output capacitor, the control-to-output transfer function of the converter shows a behavior typical of a 1.5 order system. The converter delivers more than 30 W with an efficiency approaching 90%
