            Abstract : 
An integral optimal variable structure control (VSC) for a high accuracy DC servo system which is widely used in NC machine tools and robots is presented. This new VSC can solve the conflict between fast speed and avoidance of overshoot, and yields improved performances compared with conventional VSC, which demonstrates the potential of the proposed scheme
