  • Abstract
We present novel MPEG/audio (both MP2 and MP3) encoder implementation techniques. Efficient methods of reducing the computational loads for the most compute-intensive routines are proposed. These methods are a simplified psychoacoustic model and fast bit allocation. By adopting them, the proposed encoders can produce an ISO/MPEG compliant bitstream with greatly reduced computational loads. Two separately implemented encoders verify the effectiveness of the proposed architectures in efficiency and quality
